Present methods to estimate the cross-correlation and cross-spectral density for two-channel laser Doppler anemometry

چکیده
For the estimation of the autocorrelation and the auto-spectral density from irregularly sampled laser Doppler data sets three types of estimators are known, the slotting technique, the direct spectral estimation and the interpolation with filter correction. In this paper similar estimation techniques are discussed for the cross-correlation and the cross-spectral density case of two randomly sampled laser Doppler data sets. Appropriate estimators are derived for different sampling characteristics of the two data sets, namely for the coincident sampling, the independent sampling and for a mixed sampling of independent and dependent measurements including a certain delay between dependent measurements in the two data channels.

Superimposed Non Interfering Probes to extend the Phase Doppler Anemometry size range
In classical phase Doppler systems three detectors are commonly used to determine the particles size whatever, basically, this technique requires only two detectors. The third detector is in fact mainly used to overcome the 2 ambiguity on phase-shift measurements. In the present work an alternative solution is introduced which allows to keep the same accuracy and dynamic range of the size measu...
متن کاملComparison of Adaptive Spectral Estimation for Vehicle Speed Measurement with Radar Sensors
Vehicle speed-over-ground (SoG) radar offers significant advantages over conventional speed measurement systems. Radar sensors enable contactless speed measurement, which is free from wheel slip. One of the key issues in SoG radar is the development of the Doppler shift estimation algorithm. In this paper, we compared two algorithms to estimate a mean Doppler frequency accurately. The first is ...
متن کاملThe vertical variation of particle speed and flux density in aeolian saltation: measurement and modeling
Particle dynamics in aeolian saltation has been studied in a boundary layer wind tunnel above beds composed of quartz grains having diameters of either 254 μm or 320 μm. The cross section of the tunnel is 600 mm × 900 mm and its thick boundary layer allows precise estimation of the fluid friction speed. Saltation is modelled using a numerical saltation model and predicted grain speeds agree fai...
متن کاملReliable LDA-spectra by resampling and ARMA-modeling
Laser-Doppler Anemometry (LDA) is used to measure the velocity of gases and liquids with observations irregularly spaced in time. Equidistant resampling turns out to be better than slotting techniques. After resampling, two ways of spectral estimation are compared. The first estimate is a windowed periodogram and the second is the spectrum of a time series model. That is an estimated autoregres...
متن کاملEstimation of turbulent velocity spectra from laser Doppler data
We review the problem of spectral estimation from velocity data sampled irregularly in time by a laser Doppler anemometer (LDA) from very early estimators based on slot correlation to more refined estimators, which build upon a signal reconstruction and an equidistant re-sampling in time. The discussion is restricted to single realization anemometry, i.e. excluding multiple particle signals. We...
